Responsibility, charity and giving back to the local, national and international community is a key part of Birch Chemicals’ values as a business.
Birch Chemicals is currently a significant contributor to the NSPCC, RSPCA and Barnardos, who receive financial support from Birch Chemicals in the form of dividends. But how did this come to be?
In 1915 Lionel Martin – the great-grandson of William Singleton Birch, who founded the Singleton Birch family of businesses – took over as director of the company. Lionel was able to use the income he made from Singleton Birch to found Aston-Martin, the legendary British car company.
Following the passing of Lionel’s wife, Katherine in 1958, the majority of shares in the company were left in trust for NSPCC, RSPCA and Barnardos.
Today, Birch Chemicals continues to contribute to NSPCC, RSPCA and Barnardos – and we’re proud to have been recognised for our longstanding commitment to these wonderful causes by the organisations themselves.
